Unique Id: A project for Indian’s identification

Posted on the July 25th, 2009 under Life, News, Share by Shailesh Patel

What exactly is the Unique ID project?

A project in which every Indian citizen would have one unique identification number that will identify him/her. It would not just help the government track down individuals as is highlighted by the media, but would make life far easier for citizens as they would not have to submit so many documents each time they want to avail a new service—private or government

The appointment of Nandan Nilekani, the co-chairman of Infosys, as the chairperson of the Unique Identification Authority of India is significant, not only because it marks a departure from the traditional government way of working — of looking at bureaucrats and ex-bureaucrats to head projects of national importance, but also because it shows that the government has actually put out effort to hunt the right person for the job.

And now Microsoft, the world’s largest software company, is keen to partner India in a project to issue Unique Identification to each citizen, its non-executive (rpt) non-executive chairman Bill Gates said today.

Microsoft wants to be part of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) project.” he said this at a joint event with Nasscom. [ And thats why the Bill Gates trip to India, becuase he is the most successfull business man of the earth, Who earns money from the bugs & errors ;) ]

If this project will be complete then it will be a step forward to get success of INDIA-2020 dreams. But new question is MicroSoft will be a partner for this project then it will provide a bugless [I mean an identification without any problem(s)/ error(s) ?

Hopefull it is not happend in INDIA..!
